Mora/Holman Elementary Parents,
Hope this communication finds you well! Recently, Governor Grisham and NMPED has allowed New Mexico public school to reopen 100% for in-person learning. Since that plan has come out Mora Independent Schools have been busy working on our reopening plan that reflects NMPED’s guidance, along with the NMDOH and CDC safety protocols. Knowing that students need to be in school for academic, social and emotional growth the Mora/Holman Elementary has decided on the following.
Mora/Holman Elementary will move from hybrid to complete re-opening on April 6th, the changes from hybrid to complete re-opening are as followed.
• Return to school is recommended but not mandatory, parents who have chosen to keep their students’ home will still be provided remote instruction.
• Students on campus will be given priority during class instruction being that teachers will be providing instruction to students in-person.
• All students will remain with their current teacher and schedule, but the number of students allowed in each class has gone from 50% to 100%.
• Kindergarten will be transported back to Holman starting April 6th.
• Pre-K for Holman Elementary will return on April 6th.
• Students will remain on a Monday-Thursday schedule with Friday being used as office hours and a deep cleaning day.
• Six-foot social distancing will be adhered to when allowable based on PED and CDC guidelines.
• Facemasks must still be worn at all times.
If you need additional information to help guide your decision as to whether you will be sending your child(ren) back to school for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year, here is a link to the state’s website: https://webnew.ped.state.nm.us/reentry-district-and-school-guidance/.
If you plan on sending your child back to school, please contact Mora/Holman Elementary at (575)387-3132. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through the many aspects of transitioning students back during this time safely. Our school district prides itself on safety. All NMPED, NMDOH, NMAA and CDC guidelines are always enforced and adhered to.
Thanks, Mr. Maldonado
