February 21, 2021
MISD School Community,
On Tuesday, February 16, 2021, during the MISD Board Meeting, it was decided that all our school sites will re-open for in-person learning. We would like to thank all our staff and community members that attended the recent board meeting.
Mora High School will re-open in a hybrid model on February 23, 2021 for Juniors and Seniors and February 24, 2021 for Freshmen and Sophomores. Lazaro Garcia Middle School and Mora/Holman Elementary will reopen on March 15, 2021. There will be an orientation for high school staff on February 22; therefore, there will no “live” classes on that day (high school only). Please use that day to make up any missing or late assignments as the we are near the end of the 3rd nine-weeks. A survey was sent out earlier this month and parents had the option to allow their children to attend school via the hybrid model or to choose to keep their children in a remote setting for the remainder of the school year, if they felt it is a better option.
Due to NMPED requirements, in-person learning will look different this year. If you requested that your children attend school via the hybrid model you will be receiving correspondence on policy and procedures. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the office at 575-387-3123.
Thank you,
Lefonso Castillo, Principal

Students will remain with the same teacher the entire day and will attend their classes virtually. Please note that each student can opt-out of in-person learning and remain virtual for the remainder of the school year. MISD Students, Parents, Staff and School Community,
Our school community is ecstatic with the announcement from the Governor's office authorizing the re-entry of our students for in-person learning K-12. After an extensive review of the tool-kit that outlines procedures for re-entry we have created a short survey that needs to be completed by Wednesday, February 3rd. This will help fine tune a re-entry plan and determine a possible date for our students to return to school.
Yours in Leadership and Learning,
Lefonso Castillo
