Mora Independent School District is providing the following update regarding campus access, water safety, and instructional operations.
Traffic and Campus Access - Tuesday, October 20
The main campus entrance will remain temporarily closed during morning drop-off as repair work continues.
Morning Entrance: All incoming traffic will be diverted through the Mora Head Start gate.
Please be extra cautious because there may be equipment and crewmembers in the area, as well as Traffic Control personnel.
Campus Exit: The usual campus exit lane will remain open and unchanged. We understand the inconvenience, but, if at all possible, the flow of traffic will be enhanced if those exiting the campus can make a right-hand turn. We saw traffic this morning backing up a bit because of many motorists signaling and making a left-hand turn onto NM 518 from the campus.
After 8:30 a.m.: The Head Start gate will close. All campus entry and exit traffic must use the designated egress lane.
Safety: Please drive slowly, follow directions from traffic-control personnel, and use extra caution when traveling through the Head Start property.
Additional information regarding afternoon pick-up will be shared as needed.
Water Safety and Campus Operations
Water service has been restored to all District facilities, with the exception of the Head Start and Early Head Start buildings.
Head Start/Early Head Start: Students will not attend in-person instruction for the remainder of this week and are scheduled to return on Monday, October 26. This temporary interruption applies only to Head Start and Early Head Start.
Parent/Teacher Conferences: Conferences for all programs and grade levels, including Head Start and Early Head Start, will take place on Wednesday, October 21, as originally scheduled.
Boil Water Advisory: The advisory remains in effect until further notice. Food Services staff will continue following applicable boil water requirements for food preparation.
Water Fountains: All school water fountains will remain turned off until the advisory is officially lifted. Families may send bottled water with students, and the District will continue providing bottled water.
Restrooms and Handwashing: Water service currently supports toilet flushing and handwashing in facilities where service has been restored. No disruption is anticipated at this time.
The District will continue coordinating with repair crews and water authorities and will communicate additional updates as necessary.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our families, staff, and community as we complete repairs and maintain a safe learning environment.
