Mora Independent School District is providing an update regarding the water line leak at the main entrance to the school campus.

Traffic and Campus Access - Monday, October 19

Repair crews will be working on the damaged water line on Monday, October 19. To accommodate this work, the main campus entrance will be temporarily closed during morning drop-off with the following traffic detour instructions.

  • Entrance: All morning drop-off traffic will be diverted through the Mora Head Start gate.

  • Exit: The usual campus exit will remain open and unchanged.

  • After 8:30 a.m.: motorists are directed to use the MISD egress lane, as the Head Start gates will be closed.

  • Afternoon Pick-Up: We will provide an additional update regarding detour for afternoon pick-up.

For everyone's safety, please follow directions from traffic-control personnel, including our School Resource Officer. Drive slowly, remain alert, and use extra caution while traveling through the Head Start property.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews complete these repairs.

Water Safety and Campus Operations

As a precaution, the District is continuing to follow the applicable boil water advisory.

Food Services: Staff will follow the boil advisory requirements for all water used in food preparation.

Water Fountains: All school water fountains will remain turned off until the advisory is officially cleared. Parents and guardians may send bottled water with their children.

The District will also provide bottled water for students, thanks to our partners from the Mora Mutual Domestic Water Association. Mora County has also offered to donate additional cases of bottled water if needed.

Restrooms and Handwashing: Water pressure for flushing toilets and handwashing is not expected to be adversely affected at this time.

If crews determine that water must be shut off to any school facilities during the repairs, the District will communicate that information along with the anticipated duration of the interruption. We do not anticipate prolonged shut-off, but the District has four portable restrooms and hand-washing stations near the high school gym.

We appreciate the patience, flexibility, and support of our families and staff as we address this issue. We will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available.

Thank you for helping us keep our students, staff, and community safe.
